Celebrating First Nations, Métis and Inuit Women
As Canada marks National Aboriginal History Month in June, the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) has released a poster (PDF | RTF) for member awareness celebrating 21 First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) women for their contribution in arts, education, politics, environmental and human rights.
It highlights women including environmentalist Sheila Watt-Cloutier, educator and spokesperson for “Idle No More” Dr. Pamela Doris Palmater, Dr. Cindy Blackstock of the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society of Canada and Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq Gillis among others.
