Musician’s point of view of Spirit Horse :)

Hey Everyone :)… As we almost approach halfway of our tour, I just wanted to thank everyone for coming out to all the shows and thanks so much to all the kids for being amazing audiences.

As the onstage musician I am so honoured to be working with these top shelf actors (Tim Hill, Dakota Hebert, Bri Tucker, and our stage manager Dana Paul) They are all great professionals and it’s been nothing short of an honour to be touring with them and getting to know them on a personal level. We’ve been to a few communities and in each community of learned a little bit more about myself… and what this play represents. Seeing the kids faces during this play is just amazing, and I’m not really sure how to describe it… Using terms like “Dirty Indian”  in the play and seeing these kids just get knocked back and feel very uncomfortable actually gives me great hope for our society.

Coming from Winnipeg where Maclean’s just wrote an article about us being the most racist city in Canada, it was nothing short of an honour to be apart of this play and I’d like to feel like I’m doing my part and getting into action about this issue.

One really cool thing that happened was when this little fella (forget what town we were in… sooo many) came up to me and said “Hey buddy!! Are you Metis” I said “Yes sir I am!” and he was so proud and said “I am too!!” What an amazing experience that was… had to be the highlight of the tour for me.

Anyways I’m going to keep blogging as cool things happen, but to summarize, I’m very honoured to be with this great cast who’s accomplishments are endless in their own right… We’ve become a big family I’d like to think, and I’m so happy to be sharing this play with numerous kids every day….

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to meeting and chatting with more of you guys in the upcoming month and a bit of this tour.

All the best
